Now 'north-front alliance' unnerves PDP
2/24/2018 11:35:14 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 24: Even as the ruling People's Democratic Party is struggling to restore peace in restive Kashmir, the reports about formation of a "north-front" alliance has unnerved the PDP leadership.
Source said the PDP leadership has received credible inputs that some of its leaders from north Kashmir have gone for a secret pact to come up with alliance which is being codenamed as "north-front".
Sources said atleast three leaders from PDP including a Member Parliament had been holding secret discussions in league with two lawmakers from separate parties from Kupwara.
Source said the meetings as undertaken by these leaders have been enough for the PDP to press the "panic button" as the party has already escaped a rebellion after the demise of late Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, when at least three "bad bishops" were accused of "de-stabilizing the queen" ahead of continuation of alliance with the Bharatiya Janta Party.
Though after assuming power, Mehbooba subsequently re-empowered two of the "bad bishops", one of them continues to be left alone.
However the new developments which are unfolding in the north Kashmir have turned a matter of concern for the party.
Sources said the PDP high command is trying her best to know the ulterior motives of the "north front" and why her own party men including a minister are resorting to such tactics.
Sources said one of the members of the alleged "north front", who is also a minister has been playing the biggest drama in league with his uncle, who is also a lawmaker.
"The duo has become a headache for the party and we are trying to expose them before the high command in the coming days by formulating a report on corruption the two have resorted to," said a PDP leader on the condition of anonymity.
Sources said some leaders from south Kashmir, loyal to the PDP apprehend that establishment of north-front is a brainchild of some leaders who want "to destabilize the central authority of the party high command."
"We apprehend that there are many more such black-sheep and this all needs to be discussed and exposed," the insiders said.
Sources said in the coming days the PDP is likely to call a secret meeting of its loyalists to decide future course of action.
Sources said the party high command may also call a meeting with a prominent politician from Tangmarg, who remained a minister during the previous PDP regime.
"Meeting with him has become inevitable to get rid of nefarious activities," said a PDP leader.
