Mountaineering Association, to host two-day event from March 27 | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 27: With the confirmation of hosting of 1st National Sport Climbing Championship for Visually Challenged climbers by Mountaineering Association of J&K from March 27 to 28 at Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu there has been an overwhelming response from throughout the country for participation in this event. Against the earlier expected participation of about 150 visually Challenged persons the figure may finally touch the 300 mark, if the trend continues. Besides, the President of Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi, Chairman of National Sport Climbing Committee and Chairman, Indian Mountaineering Foundation, North Zone Committee, New Delhi are likely to attend along with almost all the international and national judges, route setters and other technical officials of India who are very keen to be a part of this unique event being organized for the first time in India. Buoyed up by the pleasant surprise of substantial participation, the Mountaineering Association of J&K has decided to distribute prizes to the first eight positions instead of the usual first three positions, in both the categories of Boys and Girls. Accordingly, the prize money of Rs 30000 shall also be enhanced considerably. The Association has also planned to present a T-Shirt, as a memento, to all the participants and escorts to make it really a memorable event. While expressing his gratitude to the J&K State Sports Council for sponsorship of the competition to a large extent, Ram Khajuria, General Secretary of the Association has also appealed to the corporate sector, the business houses, the prestigious institutions and the general public also to be a part of this unique national event being organized for the first time in the country. |
