Besides Mansoor Mir's daughter, her father-in-law re-appointed after retirement

Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Feb 27: While the ruling Peoples Democratic Party is facing public fury for "sheer favoritism in recruitments in government by adjusting their kith and kin", the senior PDP leader Peerzada Mansoor Hussain seems to be among the major beneficiaries.
Officials said apart from employment of his daughter Rufaida Mansoor at a monthly salary of Rs 20,000 per month in Social Welfare Department, her father in law was also allegedly benefitted.
Last year, the government reemployed Rufaida's father in law Muhammad Ashraf Mir as the Information Commissioner. Sources said Mansoor had requested Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and others in the PDP to help him out in getting his "daughter's in laws get adjusted in government."
In October 2017, Mohammad Ashraf Mir was administered Oath of Office as Information Commissioner in the State Information Commission by Governor N N Vohra at the Raj Bhavan.
Officials said Mir who had been a former Law and Revenue Secretary was happy over his reemployment after retirement.
Witnesses said on the day of ceremony, those who attended the event included former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Chief Secretary BB Vyas while Mir's wife and son were also present.
Sources alleged that many other members of Peerzada Mansoor Mir's family have been given government jobs despite allegations against many of them possessing fake qualification certificates.
Sources said New Delhi has received complaints in particular against Peerzada Mansoor for misuse of position whereas his "secret pact" with Social Welfare Minister Sajjad Lone is also being probed.
"Basically both of them are product of militant ideology and this needs to be probed if the two are trying to revive such relations for personal gains," said an insider close to PDP leadership.
Sources said Chief Minister had already received complaints against Mansoor for his "extra- curricular activities with leaders from other parties" and that she had asked some police officials to confirm the veracity of such complaints.
But Mansoor called a press conference in Jammu to plead his innocence. He accused some media persons and opposition National Conference for trying to "malign his clean image."
Despite repeated attempts Muhammad Ashraf Mir couldnt be contacted for comments.
