BJP approach CM seeks fair probe in Asifa murder case
2/27/2018 11:36:27 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 27: Seeking an impartial inquiry into the infamous rape and murder case of Asifa, the state BJP has approached Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and asked her to direct the police to stop harassing people of a particular community in the name of probe.
BJP was quick to approach the CM after some residents of village Rasana, the village of Asifa, had migrated from their village to 'safety'. The villagers had alleged that the crime branch was harassing and torturing the youth of a particular community in the name of investigations.
The locals also criticised the BJP for failing to come to the aid and political support of the locals and accused it of 'surrendering' before the PDP.
The incident has come at a time when the BJP has already approached the chief minister for honouring the agenda-of-alliance and address the concerns of the BJP which are of huge importance to the Jammu region.
It also comes at a time when the union finance minister Arun Jaitley is visiting the summer capital in a few days.
"If the BJP doesn't act fast and addresses the concerns of the people, it is likely to face huge public ire as resentment is brewing among the people," said a senior BJP MLA, who didn't want to be identified.
The sources said as soon as the people affected by alleged harassment of the police reached the secretariat, the top BJP ministers immediately approached the CM and expressed their concern over it. The police was also directed to stop harassing or torturing the youth of the area.
"Can you imagine such a scenario in the Kashmir? The situation aggravated after the CM gave judgement on who was guilty even before the investigation was launched in the incident. The onus is now surely on her as if the situation gets worsened we shall not be accountable," said the BJP leader.
