Will Modi wave help BJP in winning 2019 Lok Sbha poll?
2/27/2018 11:19:40 PM
Though the BJP is getting ready to face the 2019 Lok Sabha polls will the recent 11400 crore bank frauds affect the election chances of the saffron party ? There are besides the bank frauds several commitments that the BJP led NDA Government has not been able to fulfil.Yes,there is a gap between the poll promises, made in 2014 election, and the current situation. The first is its failure to curb prices of essential commodities including petrol and diesel. No doubt it has come up with schemes to help farmers who have been forced to commit suicides but its capacity to win friends across the globe have had some limitation with Pakistan and China being quite unfriendly and Pakistani troops continuing to resort to unprovoked ceasefire violations on the LOC and on the IB in Jammu and Kashmir. It was not expected that during the time Modi remains Prime Minister Pakistan would not be able to give teeth to its sponsored insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir. However, despite these odds top leaders of the BJP including its President, Amit Shah and Prime Minister,Narendra Modi, may hold organisational level conference in which the Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of the BJP ruled states have been invited and a suggestion has been made to the two Deputy Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir and Bihar besides the Chief Ministers to come prepared with solid suggestions about the prospects of the Poll fate of the BJP and the way it has to work in the current year.
In a letter written by BJP General Secretary Bhupendra Yadav, the Chief Ministers and the Deputy Chief Ministers have been asked to present the details of booth level preparations along with creation of "Shakti Kendras" and appointment of "Panna Pramukhs".The states have also been asked to present the status of implementation of central schemes targeted at the poor, and socially and economically weaker sections like Jan-Dhan, Mudra, Ujwala, housing and others schemes. A three-page note on "One Nation-One Election" has also been sent asking the Chief Ministers to form committees under the leadership of a senior leader either from government or organisation so that the issue can gain momentum in public discourse. They have also been asked to involve NGOs and other social youth organisations. The meeting will take place on a day when the results for by-polls for two Assembly constituencies in Madhya Pradesh and one in Odisha will be announced and the budget will be presented by Madhya Pradesh government.Well Modi wave has not ebbed despite determined fight by the Congress in Gujarat. But within three months BJP made a massive recovery when it won majority of municipal corporations. Theough the Congress performed better than previous Civic elections but it failed to win over 40 seats in the Assembly election where the BJP retained power. The sources said a session for devising strategies to win the 120 Lok Sabha seats that the BJP has never won, will also be held.
A senior BJP leader involved in the party's strategy has revealed that the purpose of the meeting was to counter the anti-incumbency of the NDA government at the Centre and in the BJP-ruled states where the party is in power for long and has done exceptionally well in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls by winning majority of the seats. In Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Assam, Delhi, Jharkhand and Bihar, the BJP won majority of the seats in the 2014 polls.
The demonetisation, bank frauds, introduction of the GST could be used by the Congress to grind the BJP to powder but the BJP continues to be loved by farmers for increasing the MSP for procured foodgrains and for increasing power generation and increasing the railways network and by introducing bullet trains.Well Modi's wish has been fulfilled in the sense that his slogan for replacing made in China by "Make in India" has started gaining ground with various multinational companies helping India in production of various items including those needed in the defence sector. And Modi's slogan "Make in India"may convince the people in the country that foreign investment has increased three-fold during the first four years of Modi led NDA Government. This will help the BJP to retain power by winning majority seats in the Lok Sabha during the 2019 elections.
