Educational Institutions remain closed, Examinations postponed for third day in Valley

SRINAGAR, Mar 7: All educational institutions remained closed as a precautionary measure for the third consecutive day on Wednesday in the Kashmir valley, where all examinations were postponed following general strike and ''Shopian Challo'' called by separatists on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (PSC) has also postponed all examinations of J&K Combined Competitive (Main) Examination, 2016 Wednesday. The authorities had announced that all educational institutions in the Kashmir valley will remain closed till Wednesday as a precautionary measure.
The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq and Mohammad Yaseen Malik had called for a general strike on Wednesday against shifting of detenues from outside the valley jails. The JRL has also called for ''Shopian Challo'' today against the Shopian incident where two Lashkher-e-Toiba (LeT) militants and four others were killed on Sunday evening.
All government and private educational institutions remained closed for the third day in the valley, including in Srinagar since Monday, when schools upto middle classes were to reopen for the first time after winter vacation. The High and High Secondary institutions, which reopened last month, also remained closed. The authorities have announced that all educational institutions will remain closed.
The Kashmir University (KU) and Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) have also announced suspension of teaching classes. The KU and IUST further said that all examinations of the university, which were scheduled to be held today were also postponed and new date will be announced later.
The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) postponed all the examinations scheduled for March 6 and 7. "All the schools of Kashmir Division shall remain closed on 7 also and the scheduled papers for biannual examinations of 10th and 12th classes in the division are also postponed," a statement of the Board said. Joint Secretary JKBOSE, Syed Rouf said the new dates shall be announced later.
While taking to Joint Secretary JKBOSE, Syed Rouf Ahmed he told Press trust of Kashmir that we are waiting the decision of govt, because it is the matter of security. Hope schools will open tomorrow.
