Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 7: Government Medical College (GMC) closed down the Sir Colonel Chopra Nursing Home for renovation and repair of short circuit in month of August last year but after lapse of eight month the administration has failed to renovate it.
It is pertinent to mention here that in month of August, 2017 the administration of Government Medical College Jammu issued a circular in which it was informed that the Sir Colonel Chopra Nursing Home is being closed down for the renovation of building but since it was closed down no work of renovation has been started by administration so far.
"If the report of leakage from the ceiling is true then why the administration has locked down Ground Floor and First Floor only while others floors weren't closed down for renovation so far, where doctors' rooms and department of oncology is functioning which shows something fishy behind to close down the only two floor only", said sources.
A doctor said the closure of the nursing home was causing huge loss to the exchequer. According to him, everyday three to four surgeries were conducted in Nursing's Operation theatre which brought more than one lakh rupees per day to hospital as revenue and till date more than three Crores have been lost.
"A conspiracy is being hatched by the administration to close down this nursing home which was established in 1989 in the name of Father of Indian Pharmacology and Jammu's first scientist, R N Chopra" and same building would be handover to private players to run the business in premises of GMC, Jammu in coming days, sources alleged.
