KVK conducts Veterinary Clinical camps

Doda, Mar 8: To provide the veterinary health care services at the doorsteps of the farmers, two one day veterinary clinical Camps were conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Doda under the guidance of Dr RK Arora, Associate Director Extension (KVKs), Directorate of Extension Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu at villages Panjgraein and Gwari of the district.
The camps were organized by Dr AS Charak, Dr Narinder Paul and Dr GN Jha Scientists of KVK Doda under the leadership of Dr Ravneet Kour Incharge Senior Scientist and Head. Dr Neelesh Sharma, Division of Veterinary Medicine; Dr Dinesh Dwedi, Division of veterinary surgery and radiology and Dr AK Pandey, Division of veterinary Gynecology and obstetrics, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry R.S. Pura, SKUAST Jammu constituted the team of specialist doctors for the camps.
During both the camps more than 250 domestic animals including cattle, buffalo, sheep goat, horses were medically checked up by the team of doctors and 10 animals were operated through major surgical procedures and other minor surgeries for perpetual prolapsed, eye surgery, corneal ulcer repair and other ailments. It was found that more than 85 percent of the animals checked up had nutritional deficiencies which have been found responsible for most of the diseases. The animals were treated for parasitic loads, actinopaeillosis, cystitis, dermatitis anoestrous, repeat breeding, persistent corpus leutem, pregnancy diagnosis. The farmers were educated to adopt the scientific livestock management practices, provide balanced feed to the animals and follow regular vaccination and deworming.
Farmers of both the villages lauded the efforts of KVK for organizing the camps for welfare of the farming community.
