Senior party leader going out of way to help his 'good friend'
Former top cop, bureaucrat get invite to join Congress

Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Mar 8: The Congress party is trying its best to rope in two Kashmiri Pandits into the party fold to woo the displaced KP voters.
Sources told Early Times recently a senior Congress leader met a former top police officer and a bureaucrat, who is facing corruption charges, in New Delhi and explored the possibility of them joining the Congress party. "After the demise of the veteran Congressman, Makhan Lal Fotedar, party has been searching for prominent KP faces to woo the displaced Kashmirii Pandits," sources added.
They said that former top cop has been picked up due to his proximity with a few Congress leaders while the bureaucrat is being pushed into the party fold by a senior Congress leader as he (the bureaucrat) enjoys close proximity with him.
Insiders revealed that the former police officer has not given his consent due to him being very close to the National Conference, "The former top cop is very close to NC. Even after the retirement he was re-employed by the Omar Abdullah led regime."
On the other hand, sources said, the bureaucrat is trying to push himself in as he has been assured by the senior Congress leader that all the cases against him would pushed under the carpet once he joins the political party. "The bureaucrat has been asked by the Congress leader to tender his resignation from the government job so that ball can be set rolling," they added.
An insider revealed that a few Congress leaders from Jammu and Kashmir regions are opposing the induction of the former bureaucrat and the former top cop into the party fold. "We need a KP leader who is connected to people and is well aware about the dynamics of politics in J&K. Having a bureaucrat and a top cop won't help the party's cause," the insider quoted one of the Kashmir based Congress leader as having said.
However, sources said, that senior Congress leader based in New Delhi is keen to induct his "good friend" into the party and has asked his lobby in J&K to ensure that no one opposes the move.
