NHM's paramedical staff denied salaries for 4 months
5/5/2018 11:48:07 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 5: For the last four months, the authorities have not released salaries of paramedical employees of National Health Mission (NHM) working under the Health and Medical Education department.
An NHM employee told Early Times that it seems the incumbent government has been meting out step-motherly treatment to them.
"We are working with utmost dedication in far flung area of the state against a meagre salary. Even that meagre salary hasn't been released in the last four months," the employee said. He said the previous Health minister did not show any interest towards the genuine demands of NHM employees. "Due to delay in release of salaries our families particularly school going children have been suffering badly. It's we people who virtually run the health institutions in rural areas, but our services have never been acknowledged", the employees said.
They said on several occasions they raised their genuine demands and grievances before ministers and Health officials. "They assured that our grievances will be redressed, but the assurances have proved to be a hoax," they said.
At a meeting which was held under the chairmanship of Minister for Health and Medical Education, the NHM employees had demanded that strike period be adjusted against available leave. At that time Principal Secretary of the Health department asked the employees that the matter regarding strike period will separately be put up by the Mission Director, NHM and Project Director, JKSACS to administrative department on the analogy of strike period of NHM employees of Delhi. Till date nothing has been done in this regard.
The NHM employees demanded from government to implement Supreme Court orders for equal pay, equal work rule in the state.
The rule constitutes a clear right vested in every employee working in various departments whether engaged on a regular or temporary basis.
