Terrorists sneak into Srinagar, city on high alert
5/5/2018 11:48:19 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 5: Security Forces cornering terrorists in heart of the city at Chattabal in Srinagar has sent alarm bells ringing.
Anti-terror operation being carried out in Srinagar city has made it crystal clear that Srinagar is not free from terrorists and they are very much present in the city. "There were inputs that terrorists have sneaked into Srinagar and we were tracking them. We killed three terrorists and seized huge quantity of arms and ammunitions from them" said an official.
He said, "Terrorists are on prowl but we are trying to keep a check on them and want to ensure that they don't strike anywhere. The security around the areas where tourists are present has been beefed up."
Another official said, "Security agencies are aware about the fact that terrorists are trying to shift their base from South Kashmir to Srinagar and are looking for safe havens but we won't allow them to succeed in their nefarious designs."
He said, "We apprehend that this time around separatists besides triggering unrest in the Valley are likely to seek help from the terrorists to create uncertainty in the coming days."
A source said that Ministry of Home Affairs has asked the central agencies and the Jammu and Kashmir Police to ensure that terrorists are kept at bay to ensure that no untoward incident takes place.
"Security agencies have been told not to succumb under pressure and deal with the terrorists with an iron fist," the source added.
He said that since the day terrorists snatched four riffles from the security guards in city outskirts all the law enforcing agencies have been put on alert. "At least seven terrorists had appeared at Goripora near Airport road and taken away the service riffles of the policemen," the source added.
An insider revealed that Ashraf Sehrai's son, who joined the terrorist ranks earlier this year is coordinating the operations. "Junaid Ashraf Khan son of Ashraf Sehrai, who was nominated by Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani as his successor, is emerging as a major threat. He is probably acting as a coordinator," he added.
Another source said that security agencies are working out a plan to corner the terrorists. "Today's operation was well planned. Intelligence agencies and all the security agencies are working in synergy with each other. Today terrorists were caught off guard. It was a difficult operation but we did not allow them to break the cordon. They were trapped and killed," the source added.
