Jammu, May 5: The Rural Development Department, Samba, on Saturday organized a programme on Gram Swaraj Yojana for awareness of farmers of Vijaypur. But the event was confined to BJP, as only party sympathizers were invited to the event.
Moreover, the programme, which was scheduled to be held for entire day, was concluded in just two hours.
The RDD spent thousands of rupees on organizing the event. Many departments including RDD, Power Development Department, Health Department, Khadi Village etc had installed their stalls at the event to make people aware about various schemes for rural areas, particularly for farmers. The programme however concluded in just two hours.
"Farmers and panchayat representatives could not take benefit of the awareness programme. Rather, it was reduced to a political party function," many farmers said.
They said only BJP leaders were present in the function including Health Minister Dr DK Manyal who was the chief guest on the occasion while Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma, former Minister Chander Prakash Ganga were also present.
The RDD had prepared a list of their "favourites" only, sources said. "The RDD did not give publicity to the event which could have seen maximum participation of the people. Similarly, RDD had organized a function at Swankha in Vijaypur where local panchayat representative were not invited," sources said. |
