BJP MLAs skip DDB meet in Kathua
5/6/2018 12:04:40 AM

Early Times Report
Kathua, May 5: The cracks in the state BJP only got wider on Saturday when party's top leaders Nirmal Singh, Choudary Lal Singh and Rajiv Jasortia skipped the District Development Board meeting in Kathua.
According to reports, BJP legislators representing three assembly segments of Kathua district didn't turn up at the DDB meeting which was held under the chairmanship of Public Health Engineering (PHE) Minister Sham Lal Choudhary.
MLA Hiranagar, Kuldeep Raj and MLA Bani Jeevan Lal however attended the meeting.
Reports said that Member Parliament Udhampur-Doda constituency. Dr Jatinder Singh who is also a Minister in PMO's office also didn't attend the meeting in which issues of major developmental works were discussed and plan for completing these developmental works was chalked out.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh represents Billawar assembly segment of Kathua while former Forest Minister Lal Singh represents Basohli and incumbent Forest Minister Rajiv Jasortia represents Kathua assembly constituency of the district.
"The legislators who skipped the DDB meeting have punctured Prime Minister Modi's Sabka Saath, SabkaVikas slogan," a political commentator told Early Times.
He said that this development has also exposed the rift prevailing inside the state BJP unit.
"BJP is now a divided house and with each passing day the rift inside party is only widening," he added.
"The rape and murder of an 8-year-old nomadic girl and the recent cabinet reshuffle have actually divided the state BJP," the political commentator said.
It is important to mention here that after tendering resignation, Lal Singh continues rallies and protests to demand a CBI enquiry into the rape and murder case. But the BJP hasn't came out to support Lal Singh or those demanding CBI enquiry into the girl's rape and murder.
However, a few days ago Nirmal Singh demanded deportation of Rohangiya Muslims from Jammu.
