| People rue lack of water filteration plant | | | MS Nazki

Poonch, May 12: People of this border district have expressed their resentment against the state government for ignoring them at all levels including potable water facility.
The people of Poonch, Surankote and Mendhar are forced to drink contaminated water as there was no water filteration plant in any sub division of the district. The people have come in contact with many water borne diseases in several areas as they have been using the water from nullahs as well as leaked and rusted water supply pipes.
They alleged that the department concerned was least bothered about the health of the people yet no measures have been taken to install water filteration plants in all three division of the district. Sources said though there were water testing laboratories in the district but due to untrained staff no water testing takes place there besides the samples kept there have not been taken in use to analyse the purity of water meant for drinking purposes. |
