Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 12: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday asked Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to ensure safety of Kashmiris in Delhi.
Mehbooba wrote to Kejriwal in the wake of thrashing of Kashmiri siblings in east Delhi on Friday night. She asked Kejriwal to ensure safety of students and businessmen, especially women from Jammu and Kashmir in Delhi. "One needs to appreciate the Jammu and Kashmir Minister for showing concern towards the denizens of her state and reacting sharply," said an analyst.
He said but it's "unfortunate" that she has turned a blind eye towards a Kulgam teenage girl who was allegedly sexploited by a police officer and politicians. "Despite the victim raising hue and cry no one paid any heed towards her pleas. It looks like that Police have also pushed the case under the carpet and are trying to shield the accused," the analyst added.
He said, "Mehbooba Mufti, who has got the distinction of being the first woman Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, needs to take cognizance of the matter and see to it that victim is heard and culprits are punished."
It's in place to mention here that a teenage girl from Kulgam in February this year had made stark revelations about how she was exploited by the people in power.
The victim girl said that she could identify the people who sexually abused her multiple times at a hotel in Jammu.
Narrating her ordeal, she had said, "At first daughter of lady became my friend. One day she took me to her home as she too had stayed at my home earlier. During night, they gave me some pills and an unknown man staying there did whatever he wanted as I felt unconscious. Later I came to know that they have made a video of the whole act."
The girl said that the accused lady used to blackmail her at the pretext that she would upload the video on Facebook. "I travelled to Jammu six times. We stayed in a hotel there. Every time lady and her daughter were accompanying me," victim confessed and said that it wasn't only she who was being transported to Jammu but there were many other girls as well.
She said that one of the molester, who sexually abused her in the hotel, introduced himself as a police officer. "I can recognize him," she added.
Victim revealed that she was told by the accused lady to visit a sitting PDP legislator as well.
"She (accused lady) told me to visited ****** Shab but I refused," she added.
After the allegations came to fore Kulgam Police constituted a Special Investigative Team (SIT) to probe the case. "Case FIR No 27/2018, U/S 363,120B, RPC was registered at police station Kulgam and investigation were taken up.
The investigation into the case is going on at snail's pace and the Police are allegedly trying to hush up the case to save a politician from a ruling party who is reportedly involved in the case.
A Kashmir watcher said, "If Mehbooba Mufti can give a sermon to Arvind Kejriwal why can't she practice what she is preaching in Kashmir."
