5/14/2018 12:17:49 AM
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 13: Despite the fact that Kashmir is taking 45% lead to Jammu when it comes to employment while as Jammu lags behind at 55 percent from Kashmir in terms of unemployment rate, the government ironically is busy holding job fairs in Kashmir, leaving the jobless youth of Jammu in a dreadful lurch.
On Saturday, May 12, the repots remained abuzz about how the hosted first ever Skill-Innovation-Entrepreneurship conclave themed as 'TALAASH' in Kashmir valley. The two-day event was inaugurated by Minister of IT, Technical & Higher Education & Chairman, Governing Council JKSDM, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari and Minister of IT, Technical Education, Punjab Government, Charnjeet Singh Channi at SKICC Srinagar. According to the government inputs, the event is themed as "Building Human Capital: Skill-Innovation-Entrepreneurship".
What, however, has the government forgotten is the fact that there is more joblessness in Jammu division of the state as compared to Kashmir and that the qualified youth of Jammu division deserve such events more than that of the Valley. However, ignoring the ground situation, the government seems to have been all interested in appeasing the Kashmir's youth while as leaving those from Jammu unattended with their needs and aspirations undermined.
As per the government own data on employment in the state, there are at present, no less than 11,807 doctors, engineers and post- graduates from Jammu region without a job while as the number of jobless youth with similar degrees is much less in Srinagar. The figures coming to fore are bellying the claims of equitable development and equal opportunities to the youth of the state.
Data reveals that at present, there are 60 doctors with MBBS degrees jobless in Jammu while the number of unemployed engineers is 466. There are more than 100 diploma holders jobless in Jammu while the number of post graduates who were denied the employment opportunities is 610. Furthermore, at present, there are 1642 graduates in Jammu region without any job while as those in category of 'others' are 7916 in number.
The figures till 2014 were even more dreadful as compared to present. Till December 2014, there were 756 MBBS doctors in Jammu without any job. The number of engineers was 647. Diploma holders were 3024 in number while as those jobless youth in Jammu having post graduation were 1853. The number of graduates was 6383 and those in the category of others were '13448'.
Now as far as Srinagar- the summer capital of the state of Jammu and Kashmir is concerned, the number of jobless youth is much less than that of Jammu. The official data reveals that at present, while Jammu district has 60 jobless MBBS doctors, Srinagar has mere 30- fifty percent less than the winter capital. The number of engineers without the government job in Srinagar is mere 30 while as in Jammu district the number of such youth is 466. As the number of Diploma holders without job in Jammu is 1000, Srinagar has just 377 such youth. It indicates that there are 37 percent more jobless diploma holders in Jammu then in Srinagar.
