Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Nov 23: One person sustained critical injuries after he was hit in the head by a bullet during a mysterious firing incident at Chattergam in Central Kashmir's Budgam district in the evening.
Reports said that a civilian namely Ishfaq Ahmad Ganie son of Nazir Ahmad Ganie of Magraypora-Chattergam, Budgam was injured in a firing incident in the evening. The incident occurred around half a kilometer away from the local army camp.
Ishfaq suffered serious bullet wounds and was taken to nearby hospital where from he was taken to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital in Srinagar for advanced treatment. His situation is stated to be critical in the hospital.
Srinagar based defence spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said that in a case of militant committed atrocity, Ishfaq Ahmad Ganie of Magraypora was shot at by the militants some 500-600 metres away from the army camp at Chattergam.
He said the army troops heard sound of firing, the Quick Reaction Team immediately rushed towards the direction of fire to find out what was happening. "When the party reached the spot, they saw Ishfaq in a pool of blood. He had bullet injuries, one in head and the other in leg and was immediately taken to Chattergam hospital from where doctors shifted him to SMHS. Reports of individual lobbing the grenade on army camp and army retaliation are completely baseless," said Colonel Kalia. The defence spokesman issued the statement following allegations that the civilian was fired upon by the army personnel of Chattergam camp.
Some of the locals alleged that Ishfaq was fired upon by the army personnel for no fault of his while he was passing through the area.
