Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 23: Digging for an `unwanted' building damaged four costly electric wires worth 4 lakhs and sewerage pipes near the Anatomy Department of the Government Medical College Jammu. The money spent on construction of the building, concerned people said, could have been used for other developmental works.

"Moreover, the digging work of the aforesaid building damaged four electric wires, which ones cost is Rs.1 lakh, as per officials of the concerned and total Rs. 4 lakhs as well as the Sewerage pipes. If we include the manpower cost and other for setup the new wires, it would be reached nearly Rs. 5 to 6 lakhs, "sources claimed, adding that who will bear the cost of damaged wires and sewerage pipes.
Sources further added that the extra amount would be used from taxpayers' money because neither the executive agency nor concerned authority will pay the amount from their own pockets.
Sources stated that the unneeded building will not also pose threats to other buildings but also restrict the cross ventilation, Sunlight and beautification of the building. Besides, the nearby departments will also suffer if any fire incident will take place as Fire Brigade vehicles will not be reached out timely.
