Udhampur, Dec 1: There were no proper facilities for counting of votes in counting centres here. The crates used by caterers for fruit and vegitaible in marriage and other works were used to collect the voting slips for counting. Even no thread or rubber band was used to tie the slips of a particular booth together and there was complete houch-pouch in the system of counting.
"Earlier transparent baskets were used for collecting the vote slips for counting but same were no where this time," a retired teacher Mohan Lal said An election duty officer on the condition of anonymity said that during their training about voting process earlier not even a glass of water was offered to them though the hefty bills have been prepared for reimbursement from the authorities concerned. He further maintained that this is also not less than some scam. Some sources claimed that on ground expenditure of lakhs has been shown but on ground a very meager amount was spent. Yet the elections were peaceful and a high turnout was there. The Panchayat elections are on non-party basis and it was sixth phase today of nine phase polling to rural local bodies. Sources appeal to governor Satya Paul Malik and deputy commissioner udhampur ravinder kumar please do proper enquiry before passing the bills who claim by the concerning authorities which has been use election time When contacted DC Udhampur ravinder kumar said that I will check proper before passing bills and not pass those bills who found unnecessary. |
