PDP leader highjacks protest, causes ripples within
Another rebellion knocking party doors?

Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 1: The disgruntlement within the PDP is mounting due to the hijacking of a recent protest demonstration in Srinagar by one of its senior leaders.
As per sources within the party, a senior leader who was also a cabinet minister during the PDP- BJP regime in the state, virtually hijacked the protest demonstration held by the party against the government decision of turning J&K bank into a Public Sector Undertaking. The protest was held in Srinagar with scores of the party workers holding placards asking the government to roll back its decision.
However, as the protest led by several senior leaders reached closer to the Srinagar's Press enclave, the PDP leader in question descended all of a sudden and took control of the demonstration. It was obvious that various journalists from print and electronic media pushed their mics closer to the leader and sought his piece to their cameras. The leader ignoring all the other leaders present in the protests addressed the media, giving impression that it was him who arranged the demonstration in the heart of state's summer capital- Srinagar.
However, as the protest ended and leaders went back to their office, there was a disgruntlement witnessed all across within the party ranks over the way in which the other party dignitaries were reduced to mere non-entities by this leader.
A day later, their dismay turned into disgruntlement when in news channels and newspapers, they found themselves in the background while the leader leading the demonstration from the front. "This is wrong and unacceptable. We worked hard for days to make the protest demonstration a success. However, the leader hijacked it all of a sudden and the impression was given that it was led by him only. The reality is that he wasn't asked by anyone to lead the protests and he should have given credit of the protests to all," says a party's senior worker who was part of the protests.
Meanwhile, there are reports coming to the fore that the leaders who were dismayed by the presence of the leader in the protest demonstration have appraised the party chief over such incident, urging her to avoid such hijackings in the future. "There are high possibilities that the leaders may take up the issue with those at the helm in the party and could apprise them in detail about the incident that has come as a shock for many within the camp," says another worker, adding that the way in which the leader burst into the scene was the most unprecedented in many ways than one.
Meanwhile, many of the participants of the protest when contacted didn't say anything on record about the incident but were quick to admit that the incident was the most unfortunate one and has caused ripples within the party's leadership.
"We don't know what will happen in future but certainly such action has to be avoided in future or else it will further the wedge within the party which already is at the brink of rebellion," says a PDP worker.
