Will Guv Administration enlarge scope to expose black sheep?
Probe into disproportionate assets of KAS officers

Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 1: The decision of the Governor's administration to start probe into the wealth and assets accumulated by the KAS officers, disproportionate to their known sources of income is being hailed widely.
While the decision is being seen as a step in the right directions to expose the black sheep in the state administration who have amassed huge wealth through corruption and misappropriation, voices are also being raised seeking a professional audit of the officers who have stuck to lucrative positions for years and delivered nothing. These officers by the virtue of their proximity to the political circles have also accumulated unaccounted wealth and assets.
"There are many officers in the state administration who have been immune to any administrative reshuffle or the transfer policy. They enjoy patronage of their political masters and siphon off public funds to fill up their deep pockets and also keep their political masters happy" said a retired government officer, who was shuffled time and again to inconvenient postings because he refused to play to the tunes of politically affluent. "It is important that the action of the Anti- corruption bureau and the state administration was not confined to the selected few, but should be a larger exercise to actually clean up the system of such parasites who have pinched the state exchequer to fill up their own coffers.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Governor's administration ordered probe into the assets of the officers who were shying away from filing their property returns as necessitated under service rules, despite serving repeated notices to them. Reports divulge that Rajbhawan has specific information about some senior officers of the state administration who have amassed assets and wealth disproportionate to their income.
"The previous government had also initiated similar action against the corrupt officers and retired them forcibly from service, but it had to put its foot in the mouth as the decision could not stand legal scrutiny and almost of all of them had to be reinstated. It is important that such an action was initiated taking all legalities into consideration so that these black sheep did not embarrass the Government again" said a noted lawyer.
