SMGS Hospital administration insensitive to woes of patients' attendance
12/1/2018 10:29:50 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 1: The lone patients' waiting hall in SMGS hospital constructed under constituency development funds by the former Member Legislative Assembly of Jammu East has turned into dumping site of scrap materials and has remained locked for last many years, causing hardships to attendants especially during night hours.
Sources informed Early Times that the waiting hall which was thrown open for public on 6th February, 2006 by MLA Yogesh Sawhney in presence of Sonali Kumar, the then Principal Secretary to Govt Health & Medical Education Department and the former Principal of Medical College, Dr. Vijay Gupta, has been closed down for reasons best known to the authority concerned.
In absence of the waiting hall, every inch space of the premier hospital including pavements, parking area, verandas and staircases, balcony of Laboratories are converted into shelter during night hours and the authority of seems least bothered about it", said a doctor while wishing anonymity. "The administration has allotted only two limited spaces for attendants' shelter- one is just opposite to Labour Operation Theatre and other one left side of the entrance gate of the hospital but both of them lack acute facilities", said another attendant Mohammed Arif from Kisthwar.
The callousness on part of SMGS Hospital administration can be gauged from this fact that since many years, the building is lying locked and the administration even not apprised the higher ups for renovation. "With no place to take rest, attendants are forced to stay in open when bone chilling cold engulfed the entire Jammu city", said an attendant who are camping here since more than one month for the treatment of his ailing boy.
