Sub district hospitals face shortage of medicos, other facilities

Poonch, Dec 16: Facing the shortage of specialist doctors in various streams including Gynecol-ogy, Radiolysis, Anesthesia Dermatology in the sub district hospitals in Mandi, Mendhar, Poonch and surankote, the people the people have been suffering constantly for a quality treatment while as suffering constantly for a quality treatment while as 90 posts of Assistant surgeons are still vacant sources said here today.
Sources said all the district and sub district hospitals in Poonch were facing shortage of specialist doctors while blood shortage units in hospitals were not functional.
Being a border area these hospitals need to be fully prepared for transfusion of blood to those who sustain injuries during border skirmishes in sensitive areas.
The critical care ambulance allotted to district hospital Poonch need to be provided to sub district hospitals said a local while talking to Early Times out of 60 ambulances only a few were available to patients he further added.
Locals alleged that due to shortage of staff people have to go either Rajouri or Jammu for the treatment on Poonch hospital sans the staff as well as the medical facilities PHCs, Allpathic dispensaries and SHCs were facing shortage of equipments and medicines they lamented. They said the vacant posts of Assistant surgeons besides increase in specialist doctors in various streams should be done on priority they further added.
Meanwhile talking to Early Times Chief Medical Officers Dr Mumtaz Bhatti said that the proposed of 6 bullet proof ambulances and requirement of blood storage units have been sent to higher ups for their kind consideration besides the proposal for providing adequate staff to these hospitals were forwarded also which we hope will be materialized soon and the problems of common prople will be addressed for as health scenario is concerned , CMO added.
