Does SSH administration charge for the services?
Free Medical Camp in SSH !

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 16: A 'Free Medical Camp' was organized in the Super Specialty Hospital (SSH) Jammu raised many eye brows. Rather than organizing such camp in rural area, the organisers chose the premises of the SSH much to the surprise of the people.
Moreover, it seems the camp was a political stunt because the government institutions are already providing free medical services to the patients than why need of this camp in urban area where already specialized services available.
If official sources are believed, about a year back, when Bali Bhagat was H&ME Minister; all sorts of medical camps were banned and if at all they had to be organized, mandatory permission from concerned authorities was required. But that was only for non-government organizations. If we talk of free Medical Camps, they are being organized by associations and even government agencies to impart specialized and super specialized services to the people at their door steps where actually the said services are not available.
"It means specialized services from surgery, medicines, ENT, Eye and so on are ordinarily provided free of cost at village or small towns where only Dispensaries and Primary Health Centers are available and there are no regular specialized doctors posted in such centers. So these specialists from District and Sub District Hospitals should go and extend specialized services to the surrounding population, "sources added.
Pertinently, at District and Sub District level there is dearth of super specialty services including Urology, Cardiology, Nephrology, Plastic Surgery, and Neurosurgery etc and hence it becomes some sense to take these specialists from SSH/GMC and provide free services to the needy in such so called Medical Camps which in true sense are nothing but political gimmicks. It further look Mockerial and politically motivated when Super specialty services are extended to the needy within the super specialty hospital itself that is regularly and on daily basis providing not only OPD but Indoor & Surgical services also to the ailing population coming to SSH from across the Jammu region and sometimes from Kashmir and Ladhak as well.
"So organizing such a Camp at SSH itself and that too in the name of "FREE SUPER SPECILITY MEDICAL CAMP" looks awkward, with some ulterior motivates and a mockery too. When whole of the GMC & Associated Hospital's administrative, academic and social fabric is slowly deteriorating and collapsing, it looks an attention diverting attempt from the people at the helm of affairs at GMC & Associated hospitals to befool the higher echoless in the governing system especially the Principal Secretary, Chief Secretary and the Health Advisor too, " sources added. All being non technical in the matter may not be able to know exactly what is the politics behind this so called FREE MEDICAL CAMP in a government run institution.
Both electronic and print media including social media from time to time have published and brought to public domain the fast deteriorating administrative system in the GMC & Associated Hospitals due to adhocism at Institutional head level, sycophants running the roost in the institution, fast deteriorating inter personal relations in the college campus when one group wants to organize retirement farewell of the senior colleagues and other group through administration sabotage the show for personal interests, and also both postgraduate and undergraduate teaching suffering because of no interest of the institutional head and all concerned to look into the same and so many other issues.
So it looks that to cover up all these issues and to project themselves as infallible, few sycophants might have wrongly advised the administration to organize such a camp within the SSH premises itself. In real sense not only this camp but the people who have organized it have become a laughing stock. When all the super specialties like Cardiology, Plastic Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Urology, etc have regular OPDs and which caters thousands of patients monthly, why this camp was organized in SSH and why not in the remote periphery or at least district or sub-district level? This shows that we are feeding the already fed. It needs to be seen how many patients beyond 10-15 kms of radius from Jammu city have been benefited from such camp. It is also to be seen and answered what do the hospital authorities mean by naming it as FREE MEDICAL CAMP in a government hospital.
In nut shell the camp was nothing but an attempt from sycophants to regain their lost image, it was also to divert attention from real issues of administrative revamping, academics and imparting good Medicare to the ailing population in line with the fast progressing technology for which advanced equipments and skilled man power is needed. Such camps are required in the periphery and not in the Super Specialty Hospitals that are already taking care of both referred and non refereed patients on daily basis.
