CUK Controller examinations tenders apology to SIC
For violating RTI Act

Srinagar, Dec 28: The Controller of Examinations at Central University of Kashmir (CUK) who was previously Principal S P College Srinagar apologised before the State Information Commission (SIC) for violating the Right to Information Act. Information Commission while accepting her apology asked her to remain careful in future. Details available with Early Times reveal that a complaint came up for hearing before the State information Commission (SIC) on 29.11.2018. Prof Parveen Pandit, former Principal Government S.P College Srinagar, now Controller of Examinations, Central University of Kashmir and Principal Government S P College Srinagar Dr Khurshid Ahmad Khan attended the hearing. The complainant Saquib Faheem a resident of Soura Sinagar did not attend the hearing. During the last hearing in the complaint held on 25.06.2018, the then PIO Prof Parveen Pandit, Principal Government S.P College Srinagar, was directed to submit a detailed explanation justifying the delay in providing the information to the complainant. Prof Parveen Pnadit accordingly filed a detailed explanation dated 12.07.2018 giving a chronological account of different events relating to this complaint and the RTI request filed by the complainant and submitting thereunder that the delay in furnishing information to the complainant was not deliberate or intentional.
Prof Pandit submitted that delay occurred on account of confusion about the procedure of furnishing information to the information seeker. During the hearing on 29.11.2018 at SIC office Srinagar , Prof Parveen Pandit, Principal Government S.P College Srinagar, now Controller of Examinations, Central University of Kashmir submitted that there was no malafide on her part in delaying the information to the complainant. She accordingly apologized for the delay and assured the Commission that in future she would be very cautious and prompt in dealing with the RTI requests in accordance with the provisions of the J&K RTI Act 2009 .
"After hearing the then PIO, Prof/Dr Parveen Pandit, Principal Government S.P College Srinagar, now Controller of Examinations, Central University of Kashmir, the Commission is satisfied with her explanation and accepts the apology tendered by the then PIO. The complaint is accordingly disposed of with an advisory to the then PIO to be cautious in future and deal with the RTI applications promptly in accordance with the provisions of the RTI Act. After completion of necessary formalities, the file be consigned to records ," reads SIC order.
