Demand for Inquiry Commission into KPs' genocide in 1989 gains momentum
12/28/2018 11:08:22 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Dec 28: The Constitution of Inquiry Commission to probe the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits in 1989 and 1990 is gaining momentum with various organisations endorsing support to It.
BJP which openly supported the demand and endorsed the same has also written a letter to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi asking him to constitute a high level Commission to probe the causes that led to the mass exodus of Pandits in 1989-90. It may be recalled that National Human Rights Commission had termed the atrocities on the community in Valley akin to genocide. Since then K P bodies have been demanding Constitution of an independent Commission to probe the issue and fix responsibilities in this regard.
Various other Hindu organisations like All State Kashmiri Pandits Conference, (ASKPC), Panun Kashmir, Jammu Kashmir Vichar Manch (JkVM), All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS) JK Nationalist Form (JKNM), All Parties Migrant Coordination Committee(APMCC), Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC), All India Kashmiri Pandits Conference (AI KPC) and various other KP bodies have been raising the issue vociferously at national and international level. "BJP's support to the KP's demand has not only been an endorsement of K P bodies stand but has altogether changed the narrative of Kashmir issue as only one side narrative was given credence at national and international level", said a KP social and political activist.
He expressed the hope that Pandits will get justice from the law enforcement agencies in case BJP as the main political party of the country takes a positive stand on the issue.
The BJP while extending the support to the issue has termed the KPs' exodus of 1989 similar to the genocide of Sikhs in 1984 and hence demanded a probe through Inquiry Commission.
