Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 28: The successive Governments of Jammu and Kashmir have failed in implementation of Central Sponsored Schemes as over 40 thousand teachers engaged under SSA, RMSA were without salary since August 2018. According to sources, Minister of School Education in successive
Governments made promises, gave verbal assurances, constituted Committees, but the miseries and agony of SSA, could not be mitigated. These teachers had refreshed their hopes once the Governor's rule was imposed in the state, but even that could not bring an end to their misery.
"Following our month long hunger strike at Jammu and Srinagar, our
leadership was called to Rajbhawan by the Governor administration and we were assured that September Salary would be released as per 7th pay commission recommendations, but nothing substantial happened and SSA teachers have been waiting since then", a SSA teacher said. "The delay on part of government to release the salary has created lot of problems for us", said another ReT teacher wishing anonymity. " We are facing hardships in meeting the expenses of our families as most of the teachers belong to poor families from remote areas of state, and it has become very difficult for us to meet our ends" he added. Secretary School Education Department Ajeet Kumar Sahu was not available for comments.
