Director JKEDI enjoys prolonged extension
12/30/2018 10:38:17 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 30: By cleverly mauling the laid norms in connivance with bureaucrats and some politicians, a government officer, who should have retied years back, has been enjoying prolonged extension, spreading his stay at the incumbent post to over 15 years.
The persistent extensions to Director Jammu and Kashmir entrepreneurial development Institute (JKEDI) show that the incumbent director is enjoying patronage of bureaucrats as well as political leaders which has enabled him to hold the coveted post since past more than 15 years.
"It is a case of clever rape of laid norms with political involvement, otherwise, how can an officer who was supposed to retire in 2012, is still holding the post," said sources adding that the director has been retained with salary at par with commissioner secretary.
If sources are to be believed, the Director JKEDI was to retire form government service in February, 2014 at the age of 58, but in 2013 during governing body meeting, he managed to enhance retirement age of EDI employees to 60 years and for himself to 62 years. Sources further asserted that all this was done by greasing palms of bureaucrats and some political leaders.
"The first extension of Director was scheduled to end in February, 2018, but he again managed an extension", said sources.
Aggrieved also approached the Governor through a letter seeking a probe in grant of repeated extensions to the incumbent.
"He has already spent 15 years as director and reluctance of State government in replacing him shows political clout of the incumbent director," said sources adding that Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce Department was answerable.
It is pertinent to mention here that out of the way the director was given higher Grade Pay of Rs.12,000 equivalent to that of Commissioner/Secretary rather than the normal Grade Pay of Rs.8,700 for Directors in State cadre.
