1/2/2019 10:02:11 PM

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 2: With the conclusion of summary revision on December 31, 2018, the final publication of electoral roll for service voters shall take place on January 04, 2019 by Election Commission of India.
The summary revision of last part of electoral roll for 'service voters' began on 1st September 2018 with the publication of its draft by ECI.
During the revision period, a total of 95698 requests were received by the concerned Record/Unit Officers pertaining to J&K, of which 71295 were accepted by the EROS.
The pendency at all levels including at Record Officer and Unit officer level shall be cleared after the publication of final electoral roll for service voters.
Service voters are the voters belonging to member of the Armed Forces of the Union, member of a force to which provision of the Army Act 1950 have been made applicable, member of an Armed Police Force of a State, and serving outside that state; or a person employed under the Government of India, serving outside India, and wives of the aforementioned three categories.
Pertinently, to reduce the transit time for sending a postal ballot, ECI has now introduced ETPB (Electronically Transm-itted Postal Ballot System) whereby the postal ballot is sent electronically to the Service Voter.
When elections are announced, the Returning Officer of the concerned constituency sends the ballot electronically to the Service Voter with the voters' details already filled in.
Only the return journey of the marked postal ballot is physical through post office.
