MLC Parray likely to be questioned by police
Congress leader under scanner in weapon decamping case
1/2/2019 11:24:33 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Jan 2: A senior Congress leader and MLC Muhammad Muzaffar Parray from whose official residence in Srinagar militants recently decamped with four weapons, has come under police scanner in the case.
Official sources said the MLC was likely to be questioned in connection with the case in the coming days.
While the police have dismissed from service four cops who were posted at the residence, the MLC had forwarded an attendance sheet of the cops saying all the four were present on duty with him.
Official documents reveal that Parrray had formally conveyed to police about their attendance. "This is certified that following officials are present during the month of December 2018," reads copy of the attendance as signed by the MLC and as received by the Security wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Sources said the police are investigating that if the MLC was not in Srinagar how come the cops had left behind their weapons at his Jawahar Nagar residence when they were on duty with him.
A senior police official said the case was being thoroughly probed and that Parray was likely to be questioned in the coming days.
"A case has already been filed and four cops posted there were dismissed from services. But the attendance sheet as put forth by him (MLC ) has brought a new twist in the story," said a police official on the condition of anonymity.
Sources said the police would first verify whether or not the MLC has actually signed the attendance sheet. "If the signatures are really his then you cannot rule out if a separate case of giving improper details to the police may be filed against him as well," the police official said adding that some other angles are also being checked.
The weapons had reportedly gone missing from the official residence of Parray at J-13 Govt Quarters, Jawahar Nagar area in Srinagar on December 30.
While the police registered the case, a search operation was also launched.
All the four policemen, three from security wing and another from District Police Sopore attached with the former legislator, are already being questioned.
Despite repeated attempts the Congress leader couldn't be contacted for comments.
