Govt orders prosecution of six accused of reviving militancy in Kishtwar

Srinagar, Jan 2: The State government has accorded sanction for the prosecution of six persons in a case registered in Kishtwar under unlawful activities (Prevention) Act.
The state's Home department accorded sanction to prosecute the six persons, one of them an absconder, based on a docket prepared by SHO of police station Kishtwar.
As per the SHO, at about 1700 hours on 30 June last year, one person namely Rameez Raja son Javid Hussain of Wani Mohalla Sounder Dachhan coming from Bindraban towards Kishtwar and carrying a plastic bag, was intercepted in suspicious circumstances.
Consequently, his search was conducted and one pistol Chinese, live rounds of pistol and 3 magazine and two hand grenades were recovered from his possession, which were seized on spot.
Rameez was found affiliated with Hizbul Mujahidin organization and was an active militant also, who tried to spread militancy in the region particularly in District Kishtwar by targeting the security forces etc.
A case FIR No. 182/2018 u/s 120-B/121/121-A RPC, 7/27 I.A Act, 4/5 Explosive Substances Act, 13 Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act,1967 came to be registered at police station Kishtwar and investigation of the case taken up.
"During investigation the accused further disclosed that one more accused namely Nissar Ahmed son of Bashir Ahmed of Amritgarh Cheralla Tehsil Cheralla District Doda A/P Link Road Dewaru Melipeth Kishtwar was also involved in unlawful activities. Accordingly the accused was arrested and on his disclosure arms and ammunition was also recovered from his lodging place and seizure memo was accordingly prepared." The duo was further questioned and during questioning they disclosed that two more accused namely Tousif-Un- Nabi don of Gh. Nabi Gundana of Jamia movement (headed by Fareda behanji) upto 2015. He was arrested and upon questioning he admitted to have come in contact with Mohammedi of Pakistan (LeT outfit) and Mohammad Iqbal of Bhagla Bharat of Doda at present Pakistan and Jaffar Ali of Beli Arnora through social media. Subsequently three more persons were found involved.
In exercise of the powers conferred under the Act, Rameez Raja, Nissar Ahmad Ganie, Tousif-ud-Nabi, Ayaz Ahmad wani( absconder), Zahoor Ahmaed Kamaal alias Nikka of Jamia Mohalla Kishtwar and Reyaz Ahamd of Sounder Dachan for commission of offence punishable under section 13 of the Unlawul Activities (Prevent-ion) Act.
