Prominent Kathak dancer Manju Wazir interacts with Natrang Children

jammu, Jan 8: Prominent Kathak exponent from Delhi conducted an exclusive interaction with children in the ongoing Children Winter Theatre Workshop. A proud student of Great Pt. Birju Maharaj and a trained professional Kathak dancer from Kathak Kendra, New Delhi, Manju Wazir has been the runner up of the popular dance show 'Boogie Woogie' on Sony TV. A winner of National scholarship of Kathak Kendra, Manju Wazir holds the credit of having performed in major National Dance festivals held under the ages of Ministry of Culture Government of India. In today interaction with young participants of Natrang's Children workshop, Manju dwelt in detail about the relationship of dance and drama, particularly the similarities between Kathak and theatre as an art. Both being the narrative arts have many similarities and require equal exploration of communication through the facial expressions and body language. To inspire the young artists she demonstrated few of her choreographed works and concluded with her latest composition of pupular Dogri Song 'Pala Saphiya Dogriya' in Kathak style of presentation. This prompted everyone to join Manju Wazir and follow her steps to the tunes of Dogri song.
Speaking on the occasion, Natrang Director Balwant Thakur appreciated the gesture of Manju Wazir in aspiring and inspiring the young artists and introducing them to the world of classical dances. The children who participated in today's interaction included Suhani Gupta, Abhinandan Nangla, Aahana Sharma, Chaitanya Sharma, Aditya Jadhan, Samakshya Gupta, Kushan Baliya, Palshin Dutta, Love Bali, Aditri Dewan, Samaaira Dewan, Lavanya Gupta, Arnav Gupta, Sanvi Anand, Asma Gul, Petunia Singh, Arshiya Singh, Mannan Soni, Mannat Soni, Anah Sharma, , Devish Gour, Samarth Katyal, Shristi Kapoor, Aviral Kapoor, Sujal Sharma, Soujanya Shekhar, Sanchi Dutta, Samrath Sharma, and Sanchuyita.
Those prominent personalities who attended the interaction session included Chander Shekhar, Neeraj Kant, Neelam Shekhar and Gauri Thakur.
