'Bad bishop's' absence at Mufti's anniversary brings another twist
PDP leadership to decide about his fate in party
1/8/2019 11:56:09 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 8: While a senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party had been in news for allegedly conspiring to float a separate political party, his absence at the function held in connection with the death anniversary of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has raised more questions than before.
Sources said the PDP leader, who had been close to the Mufti family since the inception of the party, didn't allegedly turn up the function held to pay tributes to the former Chief Minister.
Sources said for the past few weeks the said leader had been trying to convince the party leadership that he was loyal to the PDP and that he wouldn't float any separate party.
"But now his absence from the function where presence of every member was morally mandatory has cleared the air that he is not with the party but with his own interests," said the sources.
The sources said the leader who was also a minister in the previous PDP-BJP government had been playing an allegedly dubious role for the last few years.
The sources said his loyalty had come under scanner in 2016 after the demise of Mufti when he allegedly tried for to become the chief minister by trying to bypass party president Mehbooba Mufti.
"Thereafter, he apologized and was again given a chance to prove his loyalty but then he couldn't prove it again," the sources said.
Sources in the PDP said now the party leadership was "convinced" that he was going to raise his own party.
Sources said a group of businessmen in Kashmir have been providing "external support" to the said leader.
It was reliably learnt that the politician has started fresh spell of lobbying in New Delhi on a decision to float his own party.
It was reliably learnt that the PDP was likely to call a meeting to decide about the future of the said politician in the party.
"Definitely we're discussing his political stunts and decision needs to be taken to expose such faces," said a senior PDP leader on the condition of anonymity.
Despite repeated attempts the said leader couldn't be contacted for comments.
