PDP takes on Bukhari publicly over seconding Omar, more to come
1/8/2019 11:55:59 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 8: One of the senior PDP leaders Syed Altaf Bukhari has finally bid adieu to the PDP, with party Tuesday issuing a rebuttal of his statement.
PDP Vice President Abdul Rehman Veeri stated that what its senior leader Altaf Bukhari has stated about the coalition politics in Jammu and Kashmir could be his personal opinion and not of the party.
An hour ago, Altaf Bukhari had subtly hinted that people should support NC during the polls in Kashmir and had seconded that statement issued by Omar Abdullah that there should be a single party rule in the state. "I personally believe that Kashmir has suffered a lot because of coalition politics that started since 2002. The results of coming assembly elections shall have a huge bearing on the stability and all round development of the State," Bukhari had said.
The former finance minister observed that coalition politics results in chaotic atmosphere and more often lead to unstable governments which in turn hugely affects the policy making.
Meanwhile, as per the sources, the PDP may take a strong note of the statement and it is as per the reports matter of days that Bukhari would part ways with the PDP and may join any other political group.
Interestingly, the PDP leader gave the impression of his disgruntlement with the PDP on January 7 during the commemoration ceremony of PDP Founder Mufti Sayeed. He scandalously remained absent during the function and didn't even attend the prayer meeting that was held later the residence of the PDP Chief.
It was widely speculated that the disgruntled leader had already told the PDP leadership that he is no more with them and has even informed his senior workers that they should either remain with him or with the PDP and that there was no compulsion from his side for them.
It was informed further that this senior PDP leader is in active talks with other former MLAs of the party and that it has been assured from no less than 15o other senior leaders and former MLAs to him that he shall enjoy their full support. "It means they will contest the polls and seek anti-PDP votes from the people during elections. This is going to be really an interesting situation to watch," said a leader of the National Conference.
