Anantnag ReK aspirants demand final selection list
1/8/2019 11:54:27 PM
Early Times Report

Anantnag, Jan 8: The Rehbar-e-Khel candidates from Ananatnag district have sought immediate release of final selection list.
The aspirants registered protest today and demanded release of the list without further delay on Tuesday held protests against the district authorities here in South Kashmir's Anantnag district.
Scores of candidates assembled in DC office premises and resorted to sloganeering. Aspirants were holding placards and demanded final selection list be issued without any further delay.
"We have been visiting Deputy Commissioner's office from last two months but demanding that the final selection list be issued but despite giving assurances to us the selection list hasn't been yet made public," Mehraj-u-din, an aspirant told media.
He said that all other districts of Jammu and Kashmir have completed the recruitment process under this scheme and have even issued the selection lists of the qualified candidates.
"We don't know what stops the authorities of Anantnag district from issuing the selection list," he added.
Aspirants said that district sports officer, who is also the member secretary of district Rehbar-e-Khel recruitment committee, informed them that the process has been completed a few months ago and even the selection list of candidates has been complied.
They lamented that the delay in such processes actually paves way for back door entries.
"Otherwise what is the purpose of halting the process? Delay will only ensure people with political patronage getting into the system-like we have been witnessing in the recent past," they said.
District Sports Officer Anantnag, on being contacted, did not put forth any reason for the delay. However, claimed that the process has been completed.
"Deputy Commissioner Anantnag is chairman of the committee and he has to actually issue this selection list," he said.
He said that there was no possibility of tempering with the selection list. "Tempering isn't possible at all. At first Court had barred us from finzaling the selection list but now the court has allowed us to do so. I hope selection list will be issued within few days," he added.
Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Mohd Younis Malik told Early Times that the selection list of Rehbar-e-Khel will be issued within two days.
The government last year had introduced Rehbar-e-Khel scheme to absorb the youth possessing bachelors, masters or M. Phil in physical education. After the posts were advertised hundreds of eligible candidates applied for the posts in their respective districts.
The selection for the said posts was supposed to be done by the district level committees head by Deputy Commissioners. Though the deputy commissioners in most of the districts made the lists public but in Anantnag the aspirants continue to wait for the list being made public.
The candidates have now expressed apprehensions about the fairness in the selection process. Important to mention, interviews for Rehbar-e-Khel were conducted in the month July last year.
