WSS worth crores lies defunct in Mendhar, authorities in deep slumber
1/8/2019 11:52:29 PM
Early Times Report

MENDHAR, Jan 8: The government has spent crores of rupees to lay on surface the Water Supply Scheme (WSS) to feed a population of 10,000 people of Nakar, Gurah, Narol, Shikatha, Paloon, Charan, Kuliyian and Pagyoot villages of tehsil Mendhar.
The PHE department was provided funds worth crores for this project on the pretext of pipe carriage and its laying one meter underground but in reality barely a single pipe was laid underground. The said scheme only operated for one year and is lying defunct for the last one year and despite the run of aggrieved people from pillar to post, the PHE department is not bothered at all to restore the WSS due to which the public is suffering badly. The locals of the affected areas have urged the Governor and Deputy Commissioner Poonch to intervene and direct the PHE authorities to restore the WSS.
