RAJOURI, Jan 8: The casual workers of Public Health Engineering (PHE) department have threatened to stop water supply if their demands of release of pending salaries and regularization of their services was not met.
These employees have been holding protests at Rajouri , Nowshera and at other towns to express their resentment against what they termed as callousness attitude of the state government for not addressing their long pending demands.
While protesting outside the office of PHE department at Rajouri, casual workers including their union leaders Tahir Shawl, Mohd Akram & Sushil Kumar said the employees have not received their salaries for the last between 2-5 years. "Earlier BJP-PDP coalition government have deceived the employees with fake promises and now the Governor administration playing with the future of casual worker and their families by not taking any action in our demands" said the PHE casual workers union leaders. They warned if on or before January 12 their demands were not conceded they will stop the water supply and also will sit on roads along with their families and children.
"We are facing many difficulties in meeting our domestic needs and educational expenses of our children as our wages were not released for the last many months. We are on protest for the last many days but nobody cares to meet our demands" said Khalid Ahmed from Nowshera. The employees have urged upon the Governor to personally intervene keeping in view the miseries being faced by the casual workers and their families.
