Mehbooba, Omar fight over statement linking K-issue with jobs

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Jan 8: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday said that Kashmir is a political problem and needs resolution through dialogue and reconciliation. Taking to social networking site Twitter, Mehbooba wrote: "Kashmir is a political problem and needs resolution through dialogue & reconciliation. Linking the upsurge with lack of jobs is unfortunate and an insult to the thousands of Kashmiris who have lost their lives in the last three decades." The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president was reacting on report in which NC Vice President Omar Abdullah has said, "a number of youth were taking to arms on a monthly basis due to shrinking job opportunities in Jammu and Kashmir."
Soon after the news Omar took to Twitter and wrote: "Dear retract this story. You have completely misrepresented what I said at the convention. At no point have I linked militancy to joblessness. If you can't report what I say correctly please don't bother to cover the events I speak at." Omar wrote back to Mehbooba: "If you would care to note I've already called out @PTI_News for their gross misrepresentation of what I said. Let me be categorical - the problem in Kashmir IS A POLITICAL ONE. It requires a political solution. It is not a problem of jobs, money or development. Dialogue is the way.
