Raj Bhawan ends discrimination with Jammu, revives Summer Sectt in winter capital
4/27/2019 10:48:43 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 27: While the Peoples Democratic Party-Bharatiya Janta Party alliance had resorted to alleged discrimination with Jammu by having closed down the summer secretariat in the winter capital, the Raj Bhawan has finally revived the special office.
In 2015, after taking over, the PDP-BJP government had shocked the Jammu city when the durbar move shifted to Srinagar in the summer of that year.
The PDP government had closed the special secretariat office in Jammu that would usually provide succor to the residents of Jammu during the summers when the seat of government is in Srinagar.
Despite a hue and cry over the alleged discrimination with the people of Jammu the PDP led government had declined to restore the summer secretariat in the winter capital.
The BJP which on the other hand had mandate of the people of Jammu region had also been silent on the issue as if nothing had happened and people were left to fend for themselves since then during scorching heat.
Over the years the discrimination had only continued.
But Governor SP Malik who is keen on providing good governance to the people of the state has restored the office, drawing public appreciation from the otherwise neglected region.
As per official directives, the Raj Bhawan has deployed a team of twelve officers/officials in Summer Secretariat Jammu, which will start function here from April 29, 2019.
As per a GAD order "The Summer Secretariat Jammu will start function from April 29, 2019 i.e the first working day after the closure of the offices in Jammu." The officers deployed include Rohit Khajuria, Special Secretary to the Government, Revenue Department, Preeti Sharma, Deputy Secretary to the Government, Technical Education department and 10 other officials."
The pro-people step, as taken by the Governor, has raised hopes of good governance in neglected Jammu when the government remains busy in Srinagar.
One can only wonder why the previous government led by PDP had closed the summer secretariat in Jammu.
