Early Times Report
ANANTNAG, Apr 27: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary, Ram Madhav today gave credit to former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister for taking action against militants and said that she was responsible for everything that happened in the state from 2016 to 2018.
"Today she is telling you that she wasn't being allowed to do anything but let me tell she is responsible for everything that happened in state in year 2016, 2017 and 2018. Efforts initiated against militancy and militants were also started by her as she was the chairman of unfied High Command and we supported her all decisions," Madhav said while addressing a gathering in South Kashmir's Anantnag district.
Madhav said that they joined hands with Mufti Mohmmad Sayeed to bring back peace in Kashmir. "Modi ji joined hands with Mufti Shab in 2015 but unfortunately he left this world too early. Then came her daughter but it (alliance) didn't work as they (PDP) wanted to continue conflict politics while as we (BJP) wanted to peace and development," he said.
Madhav blamed NC and PDP of pushing Kashmir into chaos. "In 1975 Indra Ghandhi Ji did an experiment and initiated a process for making the situation in Kashmir conducive but in 1987 Farooq Abdullah ji rigged the elections and failed a sincere effort," he said
Madhav said that the regional parties (NC and PDP) has always sabotaged New Delhi's peace efforts in Kashmir. "Peace is requite for development and they want you to suffer that is why they don't support peace efforts," he added.
Responding to questions on the sidelines of function, he said that Kashmir was not the hereditary property of regional parties in Jammu and Kashmir but was the pride of crores of Indian citizens.
Madhav said regional parties believe that Kashmir is their hereditary property but the fact is that it is an integral part of India as well as the pride of crores of Indians. "It is not possible that somebody will tell us to leave Kashmir and we will, as they think it is the property of their father, grandfather but the fact is that Kashmir is an integral part of India," he said.
Madhav said that their stand over Article 370 was clear and the decision in this regard will be taken in the parliament, saying that in today's election, party's is main focus was on developmental agenda only.
About recent decisions that triggered protests, BJP leader said some temporary measures were taken in the State in view of the prevailing situation but all these measures will be withdrawn soon. "We hope the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held soon and people will get their elected representatives once again," he added.
Referring to a query, he said, "In 1975, Sheikh Abdullah-Rajiv Gandhi accord took place to ensure the situation is changed on the ground but the National Conference (NC) in 1987 brought State under volatile situation. Similarly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also forged an alliance with Mufti Muhammad Sayeed in 2015 but they later tried to deteriorate the situation, thus losing the chance once again," he said.
He said that they are following a roadmap to change the situation on ground. "We also forged an alliance to change the situation but that didn't work. We have no guilt for that but there is a need of development in the State for which the militancy has to be ended as no development can take place without normalcy, therefore putting an end to the militancy was must for the normalcy and development," he added.
Stating the militancy in Jammu and Kashmir was 'unfortunate', Madhav appealed people to support them in putting an end to the militancy here. About voter turnout in Anantnag constituency, Madhav hoped that there will be good voter turnout overall.
"Even as the regional parties promised certain things including own Prime Minister, while some threatened saying Modi's come back will be dangerous for state, but people on ground have rejected them and came out to cast their ballots," he said.
Madhav who was accompanied by Ashok Koul, Sofi Yousuf, Khalid Jehangir, Ali Mohammad, Manzoor Bhat and others said after the culmination of three phases, it has been observed that there is Modi wave once again and is an ample proof that there will be Modi government yet again.
About Jammu and Kashmir Lok Sabha constituencies, Madhav said earlier the BJP bagged three seats from here but this time, they are hopeful that the number will increase as compared to the previous elections.
