JAMMU, Apr 27: GMC & its Associated Hospitals, Jammu today said that no compromise will be made to the patient care and services are priority of the administration,
The hospital administration said that the site where Ortho surgeries are being performed is a newly established High Dependency Unit (HDU) which is a fully equipped and provides care between ICU & general ward, it is a section of intensive care. The Ortho theatre is to be upgraded to a modular Ortho Theatre, thus, as per decision and discussion with Ortho Surgeons, HOD and MS concerned it was found feasible that the High Dependency Unit (HDU) infrastructure of which is ready but machinery and equipments is awaited from JKMSCL can be used with little changes such as partitions and doors which were installed.
The needful was done and when found ready, the Orthopaedics department was informed, they took up the readiness for Surgery from concerned associated departments. Once found satisfactory and seeing patient care does not suffer, the site was made operational. Thus, it is not an ordinary ward where openly surgeries are performed, it is a highly technical specified area where all facilities such as gas pipeline other desired surgical facilities are made available.
If we would have used surgery theatres the patient surgery list would be cut short and number of surgeries conducted each day would fall, so to facilitate the surgical ortho services and that the patient care does not suffer, it was decided by all concerned that the High Dependency Unit will be used for one & a half month till ortho theatre is upgraded by executive agency. This decision was taken entirely for benefit of the institute and to provide better patient care facilities, the administration said. |
