J&K govt defying orders of PM: Harsh
4/14/2020 10:03:25 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 14: “While the Prime Minister has repeatedly assumed the nation that the existing employees would not be discharged from services during present crisis, the J&K govt seems to be least bothered about such directions.
Not only have the contractuals of Education Deptt been terminated but the employees of Health Deptt too have been ousted by the H&ME Deptt by giving a damn to the orders of the head of the nation”. This was stated by Harsh Dev Singh chairman JKNPP and former minister today.
Referring to the disengagement of 181 trained health professionals last week including 97 staff nurses and other paramedicos, Singh said that their termination orders had come at a time when their services were needed most by the community.
“These health workers had been appointed last year under SRO 24 through a proper selection process and were posted in GMC Kathua and GMC Rajouri. The said health workers had been rendering their services to the full satisfaction of their superiors as frontline corona warriors when they were terminated in the most casual and arbitrary manner only to make room for some favourites of the helmsmen. And the mala fide intentions of the helmsmen were evident from the fact that before terminating the said staff nurses, a new advertisement notification was issued for engagement of 130 staff nurses under the very same SRO 24. The health employees were on protest in Kathua and Rajouri but the J&K administration had refused to even talk to the agitating employees while hurling out threats to the aggrieved wrongfully terminated workers”, asserted Singh.
“Not only were the directions of PM brazenly flouted with regard to services of existing employees, but the J&K labourers and other poor work force were also forced to starvation due to the lackadaisical approach of the concerned authorities. The daily rated and casual workers of PHE, I&FC, PDD etc were without wages for months together. The remote areas were facing acute scarcity of ration and essential commodities. The poor labourers of J&K stranded in outside states faced hunger, starvation with none to address their plight. With dozens of labourers hurled up in small tenements in outside states and several others languishing on roads, the J&K authorities had failed to reach out to them thus exposing them to lethal ferocity of the deadly virus besides starvation in view of all their savings having been exhausted”, said Singh.
