EARLY TIMES REPORT

MENDHAR, Apr 14: While the threat of COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing lockdown imposed to contain the spread of deadly virus is taking a heavy toll on the people residing along the Line of Control (LoC), the Pak shelling across the LoC is acting like a double blow for them.
The inhabitants of Block Balakote in frontier Mendhar tehsil are worst sufferers of heavy firing of Pakistan troops across LoC and their difficulties came to fore when a local woman described the woes of the residents in a video.
A tell-tale video of the poor woman which went viral on various social media platforms gave a fair insight to the miseries brought to the people living near the LoC by the Pakistani troops.
In the video, the lady, who has been severely affected by the cross-LoC shelling, said that not only the Pak shelling but the lack of facilities in their hamlet is compounding their problems. She blamed the government as well as Sarpanch, Panch and BDCs members for putting no sincere effort to end poor people’s agonies instead they are taking care of the wellbeing of only their own kith and kin.
She said that during heavy shelling poor people like her are unable to protect themselves while living in Kacha houses as these type of houses are not safe enough from the impact of mortars.
