Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 14: Even as authorities have taken preventive measures to spread Corona virus, tackling rumour mongers is the biggest challenge before the administration because some anti-social elements are spreading fake news through social media.
But to say of instigating people through social media some people have created fake accounts in the name of senior officers and through these accounts they are spreading fake news to befool the people.
Today through fake account of Principal Secretary Planning, Rohit Kansal, some anti-social elements tried to create an impression that 4G mobile internet will be restored tomorrow.
Rohit Kansal is himself surprised over the fake account on his name and warned strict action.
“#Fightingfakenews. I am told that some Twitter handles impersonating my account are carrying some FAKE news regarding internet. PLEASE NOTE : 1) I have NOT made any statement
2) Fake handles have been reported for action
3) We will also be taking action under cyberlaws”, Rohit Kansal tweeted.
Earlier one fake official order was circulated on the social media regarding 4G mobile network. It is believed that some anti-social elements are indulged into such gimmick to create chaos and confusion in the society.
Some days back social media was flooded with fake news about numbers of positive patients in J&K. Without verifying facts these fake news were further shared by social media users thus created panic in some parts of Jammu province.
Some rumour mongers circulated news after deaths of some patients due to Corona virus and this action of these anti-social elements added fuel to the rumours and panic stricken people resorted to contacting control room.
