EARLY TIMES REPORT

VIJAYPUR, Apr 14: The sheer negligence on part of the District Administration Samba to look after the needs of the labourers from other parts of the Union Territory, who were putting up in district during the lockdown period has come to fore.
The administration has utterly failed to provide relief to the twenty two odd labourers hailing from Kishtwar, who were stuck in the district due to lockdown,
The distressed labourers seeing no other option left for their home on foot today.
As per report, the around twenty two labourers from Kishtwar got stuck in the district, who had come here to work on construction project through contactor at village Gajwal of block Nad but they could not leave for their native places following the imposition of lockdown due to COVID-19.
They spent all these days in rented home during which they faced many problems related to ration and other essential commodities as they ran short of money. They contacted the local administration for help, which didn’t take cognizance of their plights.
Later they demanded the administration to make arrangements to send them back to their homes but administration overlooked their request. After getting disappointment, these labourers today left the place and started their journey to their home on foot in the morning.
“Due to our deplorable condition, we collectively took decision to go home on foot. Administration treated us badly, despite informing them about our condition number of times, no help was provided to us. We followed all guidelines of lockdown but now our families are in complete distress, so left with no option other than to go back to our native places,” they said.
