| Prof Gupta pays tributes to Dr Ambedkar | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 14: Paying rich tributes to Dr. Ambdekar on his birthday the former Union Minister Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta observed that Dr. Ambdekar was opposed to Article 370 to grant a separate status to J&K as Prime Minister Nehru wanted to appease his friend Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah in Kashmir because of certain pulls and pressures.
In this regard Prof Gupta recalled that Dr. Ambdekar had declined to pilot the Article 370 in Constituent Assembly by stating that he was the law minister of entire country and how he could do this injustice that people of Jammu and Kashmir would enjoy all the citizenship rights in the entire country but the people of rest of India are denied even the basic rights in Jammu and Kashmir despite it being an integral part of country. Prof Gupta who is also an author of a book on Article 370 titled “ Arictle 370 a thorn” and disclosed in his statement today that to pamper his friend Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Shri Nehru employed the services of another minister Shri Gopala Swami Ayyangar to pilot Article 370 in the Parliament but at the same time he tried to pacify the angry nationalist members by saying that Article 370 is being adopted as a temporary provision and assured the nationalist that this article would wither away with the passage of the time but it was strange that it took seventy long years coupled with a great struggle of the nationalists led by Pt. Prem Nath Dogra and Dr. Shayama Prasad Mukherji to get scrapped this temporary provision.
