Sunderbani, Feb 10: A known social activist, whistleblower and a former journalist of Rajouri, Ajay Sharma was today physically assaulted by a group of miscreants, when he was driving alone. Miscreants, including ex-panch also threatened Ajay Kumar of consequences, apparently for exposing their misdeeds.
According to reports, the incident took place, when Ajay Kumar, son of Amarnath was on his way to market, wherein a known group of miscreants intercepted his vehicle, pulled out keys and dragged Ajay Kumar out of the vehicle.
The group mercilessly thrashed Ajay Kumar and also threatened him of dire consequences. They also tried to throw the vehicle in the gorge. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Police Station Sunderbani in village Nala panchayat.
However, with the intervention of the locals and pedestrians, Ajay Kumar was rescued from the clutches of the miscreants and was shifted to the local hospital for medical treatment. A complaint in this regard has also been submitted with the local police station.
It is pertinent to mention here that Ajay Kumar had already expressed apprehensions of being attacked by this group of miscreants and the same was reported with the concerned authorities.
Some of the assailants included Suresh Kumar, Satpal, Manohar Lal, Gogi Ram and Pappu among others. The assailants before leaving the spot threatened Ajay Kumar that they will implicate him in false cases, besides get him killed.
Talking to the Early Times Ajay Kumar said that these people are already facing vigilance investigation and they are known for their misdeeds, so this attack was to shut his mouth. “I had apprehensions that this group of miscreants shall attack me and they did, because I have been instrumental as a journalist earlier and now as a whistleblower , in exposing their misdeeds, including corruption,” said Ajay adding that the police has taken cognizance of the matter and an FIR shall be reported against the above said people. He has also requested the Lieutenant Governor to strengthen law and order by booking such miscreants, who despite doing corruption have the audacity to attack the whistleblower.
