Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Feb 10: The residents of Gutlibagh area in central Kashmirs Ganderbal district are up in arms against the authorities for the dilapidated condition of the road.
Locals said that the road in our village is in bad condition and the administration is in deep slumber.
“The road is badly damaged and sometimes rainfall leaves no way for us to walk on as long strips of numerous roads turn into heaps of mud, adding the dilapidated road poses a risk of accidents and gets waterlogged after every rainfall”, said Mohammad Ishfaq Mir, a local resident of Gutlibagh. He said that the road from Sabargund Nunar to Wayil is in bad condition and accused the authorities of failing to repair the link roads in Gutlibagh and other adjoining areas that connect the area with Srinagar city. Nazir Ahmad from Wayil said that the contractors are going slowly with the work. The roads dug up for work are left open, and despite repeated appeals and complaints by residents, the concerned authorities have not taken steps to cover the roads for the safety and convenience of the public.
Most of the roads are in shambles with potholes causing inconvenience to the commuters, they said that the concerned authorities had failed to macadamise the link road as it was in a dilapidated condition from the past several years.
Recently the department concerned took under construction of the road, but the road was filled with soil and there is no macadamization of the roads yet, while the condition of the roads have deteriorated to the extreme as commuters face a lot of problems while commuting the road, said another resident of Gutlibagh.
However a group of locals also said that their village is not having a facility of fire service as sometimes there remains a chance of fire during the night hours.
Meanwhile, the residents of the area have urged authorities to intervene in the matter as soon as possible.
