Srinagar, Feb 10: Specially abled persons staged a protest here on Thursday to seek enhancement in their pension.
Talking to reporters, the protesters said, “We get the Rs 1000 as pension monthly. Is it possible for anyone to survive on such a meager pension.”
They said that at least 10 lakh people in J&K are disabled.
“We are not even considered as human beings. Till date the government has even failed to appoint a head of the Disability Commission.
No one is bothered about our plight and we have been left to fend on our own,” the protesters said.
They appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to come for their rescue and help them out so that their sufferings can be mitigated. |
