Early Times Report

Srinagar, June 16: Police on Tuesday announced a bounty of Rs 20 lakh on two top militants of Hizbul Mujahideen operating in north Kashmir.
The duo, which police alleges carried out recent killings in Sopore, was identified as Abdul Qayoom Najar and Imtiyaz Ahmad Kandoo, both hailing from Sopore.
"We pasted posters of two top killers after a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of police identified them," a senior police official said. He said there are several other persons involved in the killings but Qayoom and Imtiyaz are "most wanted".
"Both are carrying 10 lakh rupees each on their heads and police department will reward informants," he said.
Qayoom joined Hizbul Mujahideen in 1995 and Imtiyaz in 2010, and both are 'A-plus-plus' category militants. Police accuse the duo of killing a Hurriyat Conference (Geelani faction) activist Sheikh Altaf-ur-Rehman of Sopore. Besides, the police also blame the duo for the killings of Muhammad Rafiq Dar (BSNL employee), Mehraj-ud-Din Dar (former JKLF militant), Khursheed Ahmad Bhat (trade union leader) and Ghulam Hassan Dar (mobile tower landlord).
Police also blame Qayoom, who is one of the top militants active in north Kashmir, for the killing of a Sarpanch identified as Ghulam Ahmad Bhat of Bomie, Sopore and a civilian identified as Abdul Rashid of Rafiabad in Baramulla district.
Police blame Imtiyaz for the killing of four cops in Hygam village of Baramulla on April 26, 2013. Police have given two landline numbers on the posters for those who are willing to share information about the two militants.
"Name of informant will be kept secret," the posters read. The numbers are of Special Operation Group (SOG) Sopore and Police Control Room Sopore.
